Here's what some previous guests had to share about Marty!
Feb 1, 2003 - 18:04 - From: Marion Ince My husband and I saw Marty twice when he came to England and were thrilled to have done so he was a warm and wonderful performer. We still enjoy listening to him to this day.
Feb 2, 2003 - 00:06 - From: Sara L. Mueller Dear Marty; I cannot believe that I could not see what an amazingly talented person you were! Why did it take me over 20 years to see it when I could have listened to you when you were alive? I was 11 when you died and now I will never get to see you perform! Thanks for your passion, gentileness, and your inspiration. I'm glad that because of the work and words that you recorded that "some memories just won't die".
Feb 2, 2003 - 20:39 - From: another Marty fan I think Marty was the best ever and enjoy seeing all the websites that include his unique talent and personality. Another great site is Helen's Marty Robbins web page at
http://zap.to/helen's It has a lot of great reading and information. Thanks Kristy for this site.
Feb 27, 2003 - 02:14 - From: Gene Cline nette_geno@cox.net Our family moved to Arizona in 1951. At that time they had a gas service station known as Blakely's (I may have the spelling incorrect), but every 30 to 45 days they would have drawing for a new car giveaway and would have some great talents for entertainment. I first heard Marty at that time. The evening he was entertaining which stands out in my mind he was performing with Hank Thompson & the Brazzos Valley Boys. He was great. We were a poor family of seven and dearly loved this free "great" entertainment by Marty. After he became famous & I had graduated from high school & gotten married, my wife & I used to go to his every appearance when he was brought to Phoenix by a promotor named Ray Odom who owned the Country Radio Station known as KHAT radio. He would perform at the old now removed "Riverside Ballroom" which was located on Central Avenue just north of the Salt River on the East side of the street. He was one of probably hundreds of entertainers which Mr. Odom brought to town. We dearly loved Marty & his music. What a talent.

Mar 8, 2003 - 16:25 - From: DLFTY@INDY.RR.COM I SAW MARTY IN CHICAGO WHEN I WAS 16. THEY WEREN'T LETTING THE STARS SIGN AUTOGRAPHS FOR SECURITY REASONS. ONE OF THE GUARDS GOT SNIPPY WITH MARTY ABOUT IT SO MARTY DUCKED UNDER THE ROPE AND STARTED SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS!! INSTANTLY EVERY WOMAN IN THE ROOM WAS THERE AND I REMEMBER THERE WAS ONE MAN IN A SEA OF WOMEN WAITING FOR HIS AUTOGRAPH. GOLDEN THROAT, THE MAN WITH A TEAR IN HIS VOICE. JUST A FEW OF HIS NICKNAMES. HE WAS SIMPLY, THE GREATEST.

Nov 10, 2003 - 14:37 - From: mustangsally65@comcast.netDear "Marty's wife, children, and Grandchildren:
I just watched Marty's grandaughter, on Channel 5 interview regarding her on Seventeen magazine. What a beautiful person, inside and out! She is her Grandfauther's grandaughter! This brought back soooo many memories of back in the 70's. We always got tickets to the last show at the opry so we could see Marty. His performances, after they were off the air (when they would let him go over) were the best ever !
Of all the people I've seen in person (Elvis, Elton JOhn, B B King, The Judds, to name a few) I have to say, "MARTY WAS THE BEST, EVER !"
I only wish everyone could have seen these rememberable performances.
I first heard his singles when I was about 13 years of age in Mississippi, on my way to "Decoration Day" in Hodges Alabama. RUBY ANN, was one of my favorites then..He blew me away with his soft and gentle voice. I still play some of the old records on my turntable, but enjoy the cd's also. I never understood before, why Ronnie never pursued the music business (because he could sing just like his Dad!), but now I understand after seeing his daughter today. Marty was gone so much on the road when he was growing up. I will never forget one of the happiest times of my life was seeing Ronnie perform with Marty on the Grand Ole Opry and YOU COULDN'T TELL WHEN MARTY QUIT AND RONNIE STARTED SINGING!!!! AWESOME....You could just see all the love surrounding them,,especially Ronnie's Dad. I feel so fortunate to have been there that night!! I actually have Marty's autograph from one night at the Opry,,,,he stayed and stayed outside until everyone there got his autograph,,,and there were lots of people waiting....What a MAN! and My Woman, My Wife,,,,,WOW,,,,,TO HAVE LOVED SOMEONE THAT MUCH!..
God Bless all the family!! He will always be in the hearts of all of us!!!

Dec 05, 2003 - 15:26 - From: kathykcs@yahoolcomMarty will always be remembered in my heart and mind. He was a great entertainer, but most of all he was a good soul. No one could sing like him, no one can ever take his place.
Dec 27, 2003 - 18:18 - From: iandandbevfisher@paradise.net.nzI first saw Marty Robbins in Dunedin NZ, in 1964 although I had been a fan since the 1950's. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. In 1965/66 I was lucky enough to visit the Grande Ole Opry 14 times during a three month period and became a 'friend' of Marty's. One of my greatest memories was when I asked if he would sing the song "I Can't Quit" on the Opry one night. He said he hadn't sung that song for years and couldn't remember the words but he took me into one of the dressing rooms at the side of the stage and sang all he knew of it. I was just thrilled. Each night I would visit the Opry (back stage) he would always say "Hello New Zealand' and we would chat like real friends. I remember he wore Jade East and I could always smell the fragrance before I saw him. Whenever I smell Jade East, I think of Marty. I also have his autograph and feel privileged to have known him as I think he had the best voice and was the best country song writer of all times. These were the days when they sang real country music. I have many CD's and play them regularly. Thanks Marty for all the enjoyment you have given me over the years - you are greatly missed.
