I really love his voice. I remember his songs because he was my Mom's favorite.

Just to say I have enjoyed his music for many years and that is a tribute as I only listen to the best and I think we all agree he is one of if not the best.

If you ride in my pickup you will generally be listening to Martys music or my own singing Marty Robbins. I have my own little show in a remote, mountain town of Ukiah, Oregon. I am constantly asked to perform Martys songs and I am honored to do so. Check out "edscountry.com" and the "UKIAHTHICKETS" website. As you will see, I've been asked to do a tribute to Marty...WHAT AN HONOR!!! BIG SHOW... I just wish there could be slides, posters or something special there to better honor this true legend...How about you personally...just a thought...love your site...Dick Kendall...40Horseman@excite.com

Last weekend I attended a 50s/60s Goldwing MC dance with 300 other people. I was all dressed up for the dance in my white sport coat and pink carnation and of course I took the first prize. Many thanks to the creator of this brilliant website.

Hi, I've just come across your site and to see so much about Marty Robbins is sheer delight,I've been a fan of Marty since I was 15years old,I'm now 53,I'm still looking for albums, songs, anything that the great man ever sung,I got to meet Marty way back in the 1970s when he finally came to England and he signed an album for me,he was a true professional, the thing that bothers me most living here in the U.K. is when you e-mail a radio station and ask for a Marty Robbins song, the only two they play is either,El Paso or Devil Woman, like is that the only two songs he ever made?I know they were big hits for Marty but come on!!!these so called C&W DJs are either playing modern country or Johnny Cash!!thats great as far as it goes but lets not forget the greats like Marty, have you ever looked at a compilation C&W CD?if lucky one Marty Robbins, and yes you've guessed it,El Paso or Devil Woman,I beg you're pardon for rambling on but it really "irks" me that a great ARTIST like Marty should be forgotten in this way, keep up the good work and I will be a regular visitor to your site in future, and Marty,I'm sure your bringing a tear to the eyes of the Angels with your songs,Adios Mr:Teardrop, until we meet again. Yours Sincerley Danny Corr.

This is to just inform some of Marty's friends and fans that Katz Kobayashi, his steel player from 1974-1982 and then with Ronny, passed away in Panama City Beach, Fl. If you go under his name on internet, you can read more. I am his wife, Peggy of 26 years and was hoping that maybe if ANYONE has any pictures of Katz on stage or just him with anybody, I would love to have copies sent to us as we lost alot of ours in a move from Nashville and now that is all we have left of our Katz. Maliko, Nina, and Shawn and I would greatly appreciate it. God bless. Peggy Kobayashi 3612 O Henry Drive, Panama City Beach, Fl. 32408

Daniel Jay was the stage name I used when I opened of the late Great Marty Robbins at the city autotoriam in Colorado Springs, CO. I Can't tell you haw scared I was. Only 5 years earlier, I almost ran over Marty on the way to the restroom while waiting to see his show at the Colorado State Fair Grounds. At that time I did not even know how to play the guitar. During the show this, wonderful man took a break and let some of the other members of his band perform. At that time he could have gone over to the other side of the stage as that is where all the rest of his group was, but he came over ad stood beside me. Talked to me like I was his close friend. I asked him if he had any advice about my show, which he shared with me. He said,"Let them introduce you, then the people don't have to guess, they know who you are!" This man took the time to motice my show. He will always hold a special place in my heart. He once asked me if I knew any of his songs, I said Yes Sir, Most of them, but I love "the strawberry Roan", "Big Iron" and "Cowboy in a Continetal Suite". He Said, "Sing them on you next show", I said, NO SIR, I know enought not to sing the masters songs when he is here to sing them himself. I also used to watch the Marty Robbins TV show when I was a kid. He just laught. Well, I just wanted to share some of my memories with you. Daniel

I loved marty as long as I can remember. There have beeen 2 people who have passed on that affected as much as loosing a family member and they were Marty and Elvis. It has been hard to accept that those 2 great voices are stilled forever, but their memories live in us. Violet Conley

I don't even remember how many times my grandmother took me and my mother to see Marty Robbins. Most often, at the Little Opry in Nashville, Indiana near our home in Bloomington. I'll never forget the stage presence that he had. He could hold an audience better than anyone I've seen yet. He always made time for the entire audience. I remember Grandma going up to take his picture and her camera didn't flash, and he told her between lyrics "it didn't work". He wasn't partial to particular people, but to anyone who came to see him. I didn't understand the importance of his music as a boy, but now I hope to find someone to be My Woman, My Woman, My Wife. As a boy I would dream of gunfightin' and the old west, now I understand the importance of the rest of Marty's work. I lost my grandmother a few years back, and now I think I know how she felt when the world lost Marty Robbins.

I did not know if my e-mail went out or not, It was lengthy so I'm not going to repeat myself in hopes that it did, But I do impersonate Marty Robbins at different Jamboree shows. I will be doing a Marty Robbins show 4-2-04 in Scottsburg Indiana and I find it to be an honor as well as proud. I started singing late in my early 40. We I started singing in public everyone said, man you sound just like Marty Robbins, so I started singing some of his songs. From what I have read about Marty's life, he and I had a lot in common. The best thing about me singing his songs is that it is natural I don't really have to act it is just their and I'm happy about that. Sincerely Wayne Wardle

What a neat, neat site for Marty Robbins fans. I thought I was a fan from way back, and could talk Marty with anyone until I visited this site. Thanks for your hard work, and I will stay in touch! P.S.--Iwas pleased to see the honorary awards bestowed on Marty by my little home town of Panama City in 1981-1982.

In 1978 or 79 I was in Biloxi, Miss. at Keesler AFB for a technical school. While I was there a concert was scheduled at an arena in Gulfport, Ms and Merle Haggard and Marty were on the same ticket ... What a show! right? Yes it was, but not as you'd think. When everyone was arriving for the show, there were signs stating that Merle had cancelled his appearance and refunds were available at a ticket booth. As I dejectedly started toward that booth, it occured to me that Marty Robbins was still going to be there!!! I went on in to the show, and what a show it was - the best I'd ever seen, before or since. He came out and did his 'regular' show then started taking requests from the audience.... he did his show AND Merle's; he was on stage over 2 hours. He closed the show saying "there is a man up front here that's been requesting 'Mr. Shorty' all evening. My guys here (his band) have never done that song, so I'll do it by myself." and told the guys to join in if they can, and he did that song as if he'd done it every day. The man was a great showman - really enjoyed working the audience, and seemed to genuinely enjoy performing. That was probably my last opportunity to see Marty's show, as he was called from us just a couple years later - much too soon. But you know, what a choir Heaven must have with him in it!

I live in Spain. A country that does not have much to do with the type of music that our idol in country and western musid was so good. Just today I learned he died over 22 years ago, and I want to apologize to all those who have cried when we lost him. BUt you have to realize that so few of us are Country music lovers in Spain. But I would like to express myself just by saying that in my carīs CD he is still alive, an he will be for as long as I live. To all of us who loved the way he sang my best wishes forefer. From Spain Benito Hilario, a friend.

I have been a Marty Robbins fan since the late 50's. My aunt bought Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs and I played that record (yes it was a real record) to death. I own every Marty Robbins record ever made and I've played them over and over through the years. The man had a voice like no other singer before or after. I was also privledged to see him perform in a small venue and what a night. We took my daughter, who was three at the time. My mom had a shirt made for her that said "I love Marty Robbins". While singing, he looked over and saw her sitting on my lap and walked over and sang directly to her and then reached out and touched her face. That little girl is now 27, and she remembers that as the highlight of her life so far. And both my kids still listen to him! As long as his music is played he will be with us.

I was 8 when Marty Robbins died and I'd been listening to him for, oh, about 8 years. My parents sat in the front row when he performed at a nearby county fair, and she always swore that he looked right at her and smiled. It's amazing how such a small gesture can be remembered so long. Marty's death was one of the first tragedies I clearly remember, outside of my own family. Hearing his voice is like coming home. "Some memories just won't die."

I have been watching a lot of Marty's T.V. shows lately (the 68 and Spotlight ones). They show how great he really was and what taste he had. He would sing songs that you hadn't heard in years like 'I guess I've been asleep for all these years', 'Tell me you don't mean goodbye', 'It makes no difference now', 'I'd climb the highest mountain', 'Are you sincere', 'Low and Lonely' and others and make them his own. Apart from his wonderful vocal ability, his wonderful sense of humour shines through on these shows. He had such charisma. Marty should never have toured; Columbia should have kept him prisoner and made him cut an album a week until every great country and pop standard had been recorded by old golden throat. There will never be a greater singer in Country music than Marty or Pop music for that matter. Sheer class.
